RIVIERA LODGE 1997-2012
15 years of the backpacker spirit in Vevey

09.05.2012 5/5 “Beautiful location, great room”
Had a private room, very comfortable, had lock boxes which were easy to use, very clean facilities. A little quick with lights going off automatically while in the shower but overall and excellent experience!

05.01.2012 5/5 “Great Place to Stay During Montreaux Festival”
This was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. I decided to go to the Montreaux Jazz festival last minute and they were more than happy to accommodate me. Even though they are in Vevey, it was about a 15 minute bus ride to Montreux. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and the dorm room I shared had a very nice view of Lake Geneva. It is also in what I thought to be a central location and I felt very safe in the area. I would highly recommend this place because it is a great bargain for the price. 24.10.2011 4/5 “buon ostello”
Stayed June 2011, traveled with friends

20.10.2011 4/5 “Good location and place to stay”
The hostel is in a great location right by the lake and market square and only a 5-10 min walk to the train and bus and 2min to the lake ferries. There is a school opposite and it was rather noisy in the morning with the school bell and kids everywhere. Each floor has its own lounge area and bathrooms with the reception at the top of the building. The showers and bathrooms were fine however they were mixed sex so just beware. On a couple of occasions the toilet basin and floors were extremly unclean and wet but I think that was due more to someone doing washing in the sinks. My dorm room was very large for the three bunk beds and there was a small locker inside a wardrobe(you needed your own lock) if you wanted it. The people on reception were friendly and helpful and gave you plenty of ideas of what to do while in Vevey. There was also free wif and a kitchen for use. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on what it was like. This is a family friendly hostel and not a party hostel. It could be a little noisy at night with people coming and going and noise from the street if you sleep with the window open. Overall I had a good stay and would stay here again. 14.09.2011 5/5 “Beautiful”
The first good thing about this hotel is it's location. Right beside the lake, 13 minutes of walk from Vevey train station. And right in front of a beautiful morning market. The rooms are comfortable. The kitchen is well equiped with a nice balcony. The receptionist was friendly. For the price you pay per bed, it's much more that you get. Will always stay here, if I even return to Vevey. Stayed June 2011, traveled with friends

08.08.2011 4/5 “Sure, go there”
Stayed here because all reasonably priced hotels were fully booked during our stay in Vevey. Around 30 euros per night for 1 bed in an 8-bed dorm, without linen. They have some non-dorm rooms also. Owners were very nice. Location is great, right on the market in the city center. Parking is a problem in all of Vevey. Not that expensive, but very few places in the center where you're allowed to park for more than a couple of hours. For that, you'll need to use one of the car parks which are a ten minute walk from the hotel. Stayed July 2011, traveled with friends

08.07.2011 4/5 “Best run hostel I have been to”
We were looking for budget accommodation and Riviera Lodge came out top of the list. We werent disappointed! Immaculate, clean, free wifi, spotless bathroom facilities and a kitchen that can be used by guests. We shared a family room which was huge, with a queen bed and 2 bunk beds so could be used by a family of 6. Gorgeous view out over the village square and Lake Geneva and very quiet. Although it is family friendly, they dont tolerate children running around the place making a noise. Such a beautiful spot is hard to imagine with a promenade stretching all along the lake. Beautiful flower beds of every colour rose you could imagine and spots to picnic or have a sundowner. Charlie Chaplins statue is about 200m along the waterfront. We were extremely surprised at this hostel accommodation and would most certainly return. Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the square. Stayed June 2011, traveled with family

27.04.2011 5/5 “What a gem! Great hostel, great experience.”
I couldn't recommend this hostel more. There were very spacious, clean rooms. Each floor had a lounge with nice furniture. The main lounge was comfortable and well laid out. There was a balcony with a magnificent view attached to the main lounge area and a full kitchen for the guest's use. All around great experience and will return if I ever get the chance to go back to Vevey! Stayed April 2011, traveled with friends

27.04.2011 5/5 “Best hostel Ever- very clean and pleasant”
Super clean, quiet, amazing kitchen, nice bed and nice pillows, great and very clean WCs, pleasant staff, lots of maps and guides for the area, good location near grocery store, just perfect. Felt very safe. One improvement would be to have lockers in the rooms- no safe storage during the day. Otherwise nothing I would change. Loved it, and will return if possible Stayed April 2011

08.01.2011 4/5 “Perfect Location!”
We stayed at this "hostel" for 4 nights. It was brilliantly situated at the lake and about 500m walk from the train station and a shopping centre near the train station. It took some convincing my husband to stay at a youth hostel but we decided to give it a go so as to expose the children to it. We have three children, age 13,10 and 4 years. We had a 6 sleeper to ourselves. The rooms are big and clean. The shared bathrooms immaculate. The kitchen and laundry facilities are an added bonus. The first two nights it was brilliantly quiet. The next two nights our neighbours were up late and up early again which was a bit disturbing but not a disaster. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. 06.12.2010 5/5 “Great location, great rooms and great staff”
We stayed for three nights in private rooms in the Riviera Lodge. It's officially classified as a hostel, but we stayed in private rooms and it was pretty much the same as staying in a hotel except that our room was more spacious than any hotel for the price, and we had the advantage of the use of a kitchen. The shared facilities were very clean indeed. The staff were extremely helpful, and they went out of their way to help us with ideas for our itinerary. We arrived and departed during the middle of the day when the reception is closed, but again they went out of their way to allow us to stow our luggage. The location of the Riviera Lodge is excellent. It overlooks the town square, and it overlooks Lake Geneva. Our room had great views from the window. It's just a few minutes' walk to the train station and to a large shopping centre for your supplies. I'd definitely recommend a stay at the Riviera Lodge, and don't let the fact that it's classified as a hostel put you off, as you can stay in a private room. 05.11.2010 5/5 “If I could give it 6 stars I would”
In a word - impeccable. Incredibly clean, excellent community kitchen for saving money on meals, TV room and Internet access for family leisure. Rooftop terrace for your morning coffee, centrally located, beautiful view of the lake, and quiet. Staff Bridgitte & Francois are extremely kind and helpful. You can't find a better deal in this expensive lakefront town. We stayed twice this year and will be back again next year. What a find!! Stayed October 2010, traveled with family

29.06.2010 4/5 “Great hostel! Great everything!”
This was my first time staying at a hostel. I was a bit nervous, but the staff put us right as ease. We arrived late, but called that afternoon and were told the combo to the door and left keys to our room. They did all that they promised. The room was spacious and had an amazing view of Lake Geneva. The kitchen was simple, and a few things were broke, but that is ok, we ate out. There are alot of little bakeries in town and also a town market on some days...it was awesome! The surrounding vineyards are amazing and a great hike. Chateau Chillion is very close. Perfect location to everything for a backpacker. I would stay here again definitely. Showers were clean too... Stayed May 2010, traveled as a couple

23.06.2010 3/5 “Great location with clean rooms”
The location could not be better. Right off the water of Lake Le Leman. Great view and close to lots of restaurants, shops, and pubs. The room was neat and clean. Wifi was available for a small price. Community kitchen was available. Shared bathrooms were very clean and had great water pressure. Stayed June 2010, traveled as a couple

20.06.2010 5/5 “Excellent! Like staying in a three star hotel”
Stay here. You won't regret it one bit. Wonderful clean spacious rooms with fantastic views of the lake and alps. Amazingly friendly accommodating staff, wonderful clean kitchen open 24/7, best beds and blankets in Europe, clean showers with lots of hot water, clean toilets, private terrace from the common room, convenient location, free wifi - computer/internet available in the main lobby...simply put - everything you want from a hotel but you get from a hostel. Wonderful. So good, we almost didn't want to go explore the area and almost just ended up staying in the hostel to enjoy the accommodations. Stayed June 2010, traveled with family

Highly recommended. Room was clean, bright, and comfortable. Location ideal. View of lake from windows. Lovely terrace. We were attending a wedding at the Chateau de Chatelard and found the free bus pass issued to us by the guest house to be incredibly useful. Stayed September 2009, traveled as a couple

28.10.2009 4/5 “Riviera Lodge - Surprised There Is Not More Reviews”
Hi, I am really surprised there are only 2 reviews of this lovely hostel situated only two buildings back from beautiful Lake Geneva. The snow caped alps reflect on the water with numerous bird life. I have never found a place more beautiful throughout all my travels and stay here each time I visit Europe. Reception is on the 4th level with spacious bunk rooms and double rooms on each level. There is a TV room and kitchen on level 4 with access to a sunny terrace overlooking the lake and the vine clad mountains behind Vevey. It is close to Montreux abnd the Chillion Castle. There is a farmers food market in the square adjoining the hostel 2 or 3 times a week where one can pick up some lovely local cheeses, bread etc for lunch. Reception will issue you with the Riviera Card which will give you free transport on the busses, funicular and some local mountain trains. Trolley Bus #1 will take you to Montreux & Chillion Castle. Or just stroll along the lakeside flower laden promenade admiring the views. Or take a antique paddlesteamer from Vevey wharf to Lausanne etc and return through the vineyards by train. The toilet/washing/showering facilities at Riviera Lodge are modern and spotlessly clean. There is a very friendly atmosphere and it is easy to met other people. There's a large supermarket in the basement of a nearby shopping centre and a smaller but bit more expensive supermarket next door to the railway station 5 minutes walk away.

28.07.2009 4/5 “cost effective and good service B&B”
we stayed in Riviera Lodge during the weekend, and the reasons i suggest this b&b are -1) Cost Effective 2) Clean, esp.., bathrooms although they are common W/C and wash rooms 3) Centrally located, a few steps and we are near the shore of the lake 4) Close to the Vevey SBB, shopping area, restaurants all around 5) The small kitchen is well equipped and spacious 6) The staff is helpful, and always ready to stretch that extra to make their guests feel comfortable. for more visit www.rivieralodge.ch cheers, chaitra. 14.04.2009 5/5 “Clean, comfortable and fantastic location”
We only stayed for 1 night over Easter but could have happily stayed for a few more days. Our private double room was very spacious and clean. Bed very comfortable. Although we didn't have a private bathroom, the one we used was extremely clean and hardly used by others. There was a well equipped kitchen for those on a budget and wishing to cook their own food and a lovely roof terrace so you can eat outside and catch some sun. There was a wonderful food market in the square on Saturday and we picked up some lovely local cheeses, bread etc for lunch. I highly recommend this place. Not just for young people. There were families with young children and older travellers staying so it isn't your usual noisy hostel. Stayed April 2009, traveled as a couple
